Dr Oz: Total 10 Rapid Weigh-Loss Plan Shopping List

Dr Oz had introduced his biggest and most simple weight loss plan ever: his Total 10 Rapid Weight-Loss Plan. He wanted to make the plan even easier by breaking down a shopping list that includes everything you could possibly need. Danielle was brought onto the show because she's lost 38 pounds on the plan and has mastered how to shop for it. Danielle explained that she's a married mom of four, and has made the plan a way of life for herself and her family. She shops a lot of sales and also tries to shop seasonally.

Dr Oz: Fresh Vegetables & How To Store Them

Dr Oz said the "hero" is the produce aisle, because on the plan, you're allowed unlimited non-starchy vegetables. Danielle said when she first started, she bought everything on the list, but realized it wasn't practical. She then changed the list to match what she and her family would actually eat and enjoy eating. Staples on Danielle's list are Brussels sprouts, red peppers, celery, artichokes, and garbanzo beans. To get the produce to last, she uses airtight containers and vacuum sealed bags.

She does all her prep work on Sunday and Wednesdays because she knows if there isn't food already prepped, she's more likely to grab something processed and that's not good for her.

Dr Oz: Healthy Protein Sources

As for protein, the plan allows 12 ounces a day. Any poultry is fine, as well as fish, even prepackaged. Eggs are also a great way to get protein, because even though you only get one ounce of protein per egg, they're certainly inexpensive. Danielle shared that she only eats chicken and fish, white fish only, but her family eats a lot of red meat as well. She buys her chicken ahead of time once a week and then precooks it, and her fish she makes per meal.

Dr Oz: Shopping For Healthy Fats & Fruits

Then on the grocery list are the essentials, which are all the things besides vegetables and protein. First are healthy fats like flaxseed oil, olive oil, coconut oil, almond butter, nuts, or avocado. The plan doesn't allow for a lot of dairy, but you can have unsweetened almond milk or coconut milk to use in your morning smoothie or cup of coffee. The plan also doesn't allow for a lot of fruit, but you should buy lemons for your morning hot water, frozen berries and bananas for your smoothies, and apples.

You also should buy protein powder in the form of whey protein powder or egg white protein powder. The diet calls for one tablespoon of the powder a day in your smoothie. The only grain you'll be eating on the plan is quinoa, enough for half a cup a day. You're also allowed to have a small cup, about six ounces, of plain 2% Greek yogurt. Other items you should purchase are low-sodium vegetable broth, hummus, and pickles. A lot of people asked Dr Oz about low-sodium turkey jerky, so he included that as a snack as well.

Finally, for sweetening up your foods a bit, you can buy canned organic pumpkin, liquid Stevia, and all-natural cocoa powder.
